Pork – Satay

Background Pork satay consists of marinated pork on bamboo skewers, charcoal barbequed then served with a tasty peanut sauce and a white vinegar cucumber sauce. It is originated in Indonesia but frequently cooked as beef satay. Once this recipe was transformed into Thailand, there were cooked as pork satay instead from popular consumption of Chinese. Its ingredients  for marinated pork are coriander seeds, cumin seeds, turmeric powder and curry powder. The delicious pork satay will be mostly cooked by Chinese. It is a whole day snack. Moreover, this dish becomes a famous appetizer .   Nutrition facts Being high in protein and rich in many vitamins and minerals, this becomes main benefit of pork with all the essential amino acids necessary for the growth and maintenance of our bodies. Laab Kua (Spicy Pork Salad)

Background It is a popular dish at ceremonies and special occasions of the Lanna tradition due to the reason that  “Laab” means lucky. However, the Northern recipe is different from the North –Eastern by cooking with meat and curry paste instead of roasted rice.   Nutrition Facts Laab Kua is high in energy and protein. Yum Sanad

Background Yum Sanad or Yum Sanab is cooked by mixing various vegetables together such as Acacia, Leucaena (krathin) yard long beans, morning glory, banana blossoms and Thai eggplants.   Nutrition Facts The vegetables in Yum Sanad contain various vitamin and minerals. Banana blossom helps increase lactation in breastfeeding. Eggplant has pectin which helps to control the glucose level in diabetics’ patients. Yum Yod Makham (Tamarind leaves Salad)

Background Lanna’s tamarind leaves salad has many cooking recipes up to each community in the Northern Thailand. Yum Jhin Kai (Chicken Salad with Herbs)

Background Yum Jhin Kai was originated at a witchcraft ceremony, after the ceremony the chicken is cooked into Yum Jhin Kai. Although this dish is called a salad, but the cooking method is by boiling.   Nutrition Facts Chicken is high in protein, and the herbs contain vitamins and minerals. Nam Prik Ma Kham (Chili sauce with tamarind)

Background Nam Prik Ma Kham is a house hold Thai food, available nearly everywhere. It is made from young tamarind, shrimp paste, chilies, garlic and minced pork. The chili sauce should be sour first, then salty and sweet.
