” Thai Spicy Mixed Vegetable Soup with Prawns (Kang Liang Kung Sod)” is a street food for health lovers. The dish focuses on vegetable more that meat. The soup is rich, sweet and salty with spiciness from pepper and lemon basil, so it smells unique and appetizing.

Question : Why is this dish is preferable for the health lovers?

Answer : Because Kang Liang consists of the following vegetables which are full of medication properties.

Lemon basil                Relief flatulence and indigestion.

Ivy gourd                    Relief flatulence, indigestion and fever.  Nourish eyesight and treat skin disease.

Gourd                         Nourish heart. Relief apthous ulcer. Support excretory system.

Pumpkin                     Nourish eyesight and skin.

Straw mushroom        Prevent influenza. Reduce fat in cholesterol.

Pepper                         Support digestion system. Be carminative and diaphoresis. Reduce body heat.

Shallot                        Relief cold and nasal congestion.

Guinea-pepper            Give a good appetite. Be carminative and pituitary.   Relief cold.

If you want to cook it a t home so that it taste as you want and you can make sure it is clean, … I have a recipe from website of ezythaicooking as follows:-

Ingredients of Kang Liang:
– 350 grams of medium-sized shrimps (Peel, leave the tail and slightly cut along the middle)
– 1 cup of baby corn cut in pieces
– 1 cup of other fresh vegetables in pieces
– 1/2 cup of lemon basil
– 4 cups of water (or vegetable soup)
Ingredients of Kang Liang chili paste :
– 12 black peppers
– 12 shallots
– 1 tablespoon of shrimp paste
– 1/2 cup of dried shrimp
– 2 tablespoons of fish sauce

Instruction
1. Ground or blend the ingredients of Kang Liang chili paste thoroughly.
2. Add Kang Liang chili paste into the water or vegetable soup. Boil it until the chili paste dissolved.
3. When the soup is boiled, season it with fish sauce. Add shrimp and vegetables in the soup.
4. Wait until it well done … then it is ready to be served.
