Background

Tam Som-O or Tam-Baa-O is the mixture of pomelo and spicy ingredients in northern style.Furthermore for a tasty flavor, we will add crab sauce or nampu as a condiment.

Pomelo is considered as a citrus fruit highly recommended as a great source of Vitamin C. In additional it is well-known for detoxification. Consuming pomelo daily can help fight with cancer.Another ingredient is round eggplant, it is a great source for a dietary fiber that keeps the digestive system functioning at a high level. Fiber is essential for gastrointestinal health as well as for the regular movement of the bowels.

 

Ingredients

200 gramspomelo or grapefruit

5 grams bird’s eye chili

5 grams Thai garlic,peeled

40 gramsround eggplant, thinly sliced

2 tablespoon lemongrass, thinly sliced

1 tablespoon palm sugar

2 tablespoon boiled fermented fish ( namplaraa )

½ teaspoon crab sauce or nampu

Abb-Pla

    Background Abb-Pla is made from fresh fish slices, mixed with ground Thai herb and ingredients then wrapped in banana leaf. Finally charcoal grilled with light heat until it is cooked.   Nutrition facts Fish meat has rich in high protein and easy to digest. Kaffir lime skin helps to release gas in intestine, reduce flatulence and relieve colic.Turmeric can help boosting the immune system. Lemongrass relieves cough and cold.Garlic is beneficial in enhancing the growth of tissue in our body, strengthening body immune from cancer and containing a strong antioxidant.   Ingredients 1 Kg. of fresh fish slices 1 teaspoon of kaffir lime skin, finely chopped 40 grams Thai garlic, peeled 80 grams shallot 80 grams lemongrass 1 teaspoonshrimp paste 1 tablespoonturmeric, finely chopped 15grams bird’s eye chili 1 teaspoon of fish sauce 1 teaspoon of salt Banana leaf for wrapping Small bamboo pins

    Background This is traditional local dessert of Phuket,Ow-Ew is one kind of herb which its seed is similar to basil seeds. When soak into water, it becomes mucilage, add jia-kor( agar ) to make it stable as jelly but without color. Kuay-Teow-Look-Chin-Pla (Noodles soup with fish balls)

  Background Fish ball is well-known as traditional technique cooking of Chinese, made from fish meat  with blended all ingredients for a while until it becomes sticky. Then boil again after forming into balls shape, the good fish ball should be well mixed and not fishy.
